Today we are in New Bern, NC, birthplace of Pepsi-Cola. Pepsi was originally called “Brad’s Drink,” invented in 1893 by Caleb Bradham in his downtown New Bern Drug Store, located on the corner of Middle Street and Pollock Street. He renamed the drink five years later to “Pepsi-Cola,” a nod to the pepsin and kola nut ingredients that was supposed to help digestion. This location is where “Brad’s Drink” was invented. Unfortunately the origanl building burned down 1931. The Pepsi Company rebuilt it in the 1940’s and it is now The Pepsi Store – part museum, part souvenir store, and part soda shop.
